> QUESTION: Is there a Demo version for Maxwell Render?  

Yes, a demo version is available through our website here. You only need to fill in the form that is provided and you will immediately receive an email with the details for downloading the demo and the plugins.

> QUESTION: What will I get with my order?

You will receive a downloadable version of Maxwell Render, The Light Simulator upon ordering, and you will be granted free software updates as and when they are released, to ensure you have the most current version of Maxwell Render 1.X.

> QUESTION: Will I get a hard copy of the software?  

No. There is no CD or packaging for Maxwell Render. Maxwell Render is provided only in download format. As soon as your order is processed, we will send you a license email which includes a link to the download area, as well as the license information that is required to register the license.

> QUESTION: Are there educational versions available to students?

Yes there are, here is some up to date information regarding our educational licenses for Maxwell Render:

  • The educational license costs 145€ / $195
  • There is no technical difference between the educational license and a standard license.
  • It is valid for one machine, irrespective of how many cores it has.
  • The license is not time limited, although it does not grant you a free upgrade to newer versions. When a new major version of Maxwell Render is released you will need to buy again.
  • It is available for Windows, Mac OSX or Linux.
  • Maxwell Render software is download only. The manual is also available for download.
  • Educational licenses are strictly for educational purposes only, and must not be used commercially.

    • The RenderNode license option is not available in the educational program.

    > QUESTION: What are the limitations of Maxwell Render Demo?  

    Before you buy, you have the opportunity to "test drive" our software via an evaluation copy. It will allow you to become very familiar with the functionality of the product and how it could be integrated into your organization. It is not time limited, but it does have a few necessary restrictions:

    • Watermarked render.
    • Maximum render size of 800*600 pixels.
    • Network Rendering not available
    • Preview Rendering in viewport in studio not available.

    > QUESTION: I have a network of 5 machines and I would like to use all of them for the rendering process. How many Maxwell Render licenses do I need? 

    If you want to run Maxwell render on all of your machines, you will need to buy a Standard Maxwell Render license and 4 render node licenses.

    > QUESTION: Can I buy a Render Node license if I do not own any Standard license?

    No, in order to be able to purchase a Render Node license we require that you own a minimum of 1 Standard license.

    > QUESTION: We are 3 people in my company and we will all be using Maxwell Render licenses. How many licenses should I buy?

    You need to buy a Standard license per user and as many Render Node licenses as you wish, to render in your network.
