Hi again.
I've noticed that when I duplicate MXS references , mem usage is climbing high.
Shouldn't they be treated like instances? after all, it's the same file again and again...

If you have two MXS reference nodes using the same MXS file, that file will be loaded twice. However, you can instance a MXS reference just like any other object.

Use Maya instances and make sure "Maya Instances to Maxwell Instances" is checked in the render options. The Maxwell instancer is designed to work only with polygon meshes.

ok.
but lets make it a feature request... I think it's logical that the plugin will recognize same MXS refs and instance it, right ...?
p.s.
thanx for the quick reply, for the help, and all.

This should probably be done in the engine directly, so it doesn't have to be implemented in every plug-in. It has been discussed before, but more important things took priority.
