You can convert the procedurals to file textures (that's what the Cinema plug-in is doing behind the scenes). We chose not to do it automatically in Maya because managing the process can get messy: where do we bake the textures, do we always bake everything on export (slow) or do we skip existing files (troublesome), what resolution do we use, what do we do with animated procedurals etc. We think it's best if the user manually controls the baking.

thank you mr.balta for the answer,

i am aware of the method of converting procedural textures...
nevertheless, it would be great to have this option as an automated background process like in cinema!
so every user can decide individually wether to use this option or not.

i am not a programmer but if it works for cinema why it doesn`t work for maya?
the problems you pointed out are the same for every 3D-application!

it seems that i didn`t get the point:
why do maya users have to control the baking frame by frame manually, while cinema users let the computers do the work for you automatically!?!

thx
