Running C4D R12 and latest version of MW and plugin. Running Win Vista XP 64 bit.

Pressing the little black arrow does not do anything....maybe something I'm missing?

It is working fine here, so I have to ask: can you confirm that the selected material contains any textures which are not missing? If so, how exactly was the material created -- just asking so that I can try to reproduce your exact situation.

Hi JD...my bad (as always), there is only one texture...hence no dropdown.

Actually my problem was that the viewport scene was not showing the Maxwell textures, and I found why that was happening...I had imported a Rhino file and "Use Color" under the Attributes dialog was set to "By Layer", so when I changed that to "Automatic", it showed the assigned Maxwell materials.

Thank you for your quick response.

Joe

Hmm, still sounds a bit off -- with one texture available, you should still get the dropdown, with the list looking like this:

  • texture.jpg
  • (none)

Otherwise there is no way to turn off viewport textures for the material.

I opened a new c4d file, placed a cube, created a basic diffuse material, assigned it to the object, but do not get that drop down. Does doing the same work differently for you?

That is the correct operation; if there are no textures at all in the material, then there is nothing to put in the drop-down. Try it with at least one texture assigned in the material, though, and you should get a list like the one I described in my previous post.

my problem was thinking that a "color" was the same as "texture"

OT: (don't want to start another thread): did the compass thingie ever get incorporated into this plugin (I've been doing other things than c4d for most of this year)? (The sun indicator is great, by the way). If not, is Maxwell north (now) straight up, matching c4d Z direction?

No worries, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong with that drop-down. On the compass, no, there is just the sun indicator in this plugin, and yes, positive Cinema Z points due north.
