hello NL !
an official question to the developers...

* * *

it's great that maxwell will be out soon (first quarter of 2007) !

i have this question:

how does maxwell distribute the workload among multiple cores and cpus? is it possible to directly use multi-cpu workstations without other software that handles the distribution between the cores / cpus ?

for example this machine:

how would i have to use this machine to run maxwell fully on all processors ?

which linux is needed for the native 64 bit version of maxwell ?

thanks in advance and a happy holiday time !

In case they don't answer...
The way i see it those are several nodes cramped into one box, so you need enough maxwell licenses to cover your n x 4 cores and network render your scenes just like every other normal farmer :wink:

For each node, you can install a distro of your choice though people will recommend something very slim if you only assign them render jobs and never use them for Studio etc.

I don't know if the "generic" kernels are an Ubuntu thing but they work nicely with my 64bit dualcore, so they might be a suitable choice.
