Yea, as usual I will have my heater turned off during all winter, maybe a poll is needed? ;)

We'd be keen on a GPU version too.

A few of the main GPU render engines now have SSS, dispersion etc. (like iray), so I guess it's all possible to code, but this must be quite a job.

I think Maxwell render may be support AVX and Xeon phi only on the next version, not support gpu, because support gpu will be a large change on the source code

Let's hope phi is cheap and code changes are small:

cheap = twice performance / price then current core series.

displacement and instancing seem to be possible now on gpu

http://randomcontrol.com/technology

edit: the reaction speed of the displacement is quite impressive...

Ut-oh!
Arion render 2 out now for 195 euros... It looks pretty good too.
Random control seem to have abandoned fryrender which suggests full fryrender functionality is or will be availible on arion.
they also do a 95 euro edition for students and 'hobbyists'.. No trial though...

the "stand alone" version for 195€ is pretty useless. No plugins, only obj import. No network rendering and no animation support.

But the max version for 595€ looks quite nice, especially with unlimited node licenses.
(with this fast displacement and support for v-ray materials!)

But that it is for max and xsi only now is a big joke!

And i think i'll never again buy something from them - so many roadmap changes, abandoned products and bad customer suppport... i'm still waiting for my announced real time engine RC4
