 RAM loading differences in lower post.

I have a scene which was saved on an x32 MXST system with 3gb of ram and when opening the file on my x64 MXST system with 4GB, the same file took 15 mins to load.

When I then tried to save the file in x64 MXST, I got a runtime error as MXST used 10gB of ram & VM combined.

Why should this be? Surely an mxs created with a 3gb ram limit should open with 4gb ram.

Vm increased to 8.89gb before MXST popped.

Are x32 MXS files not compatible with X64 MXST?

The scene has over 30 mxms and many multimaterial objects.

I'm about to switch back to x32 MXST on my x64 computer to see if things are the same.

Thanks,

Tim.

I'm unable to save or render through mxst, but can render through mxcl & command line. Mxst x32

Same mxs loaded in MXST on a x32 windows laptop, with 500mb RAM, loads faster than the same scene in MXST x64 with 4GB RAM.

Peak Mem usage by MXST x32 = 302,044kb during load.
Once loaded Mem useage = 72,684kb

Peak Mem usage by MXST x64 = 3,850,780kb during load.
Once loaded Mem usage = 854,300kb

Scene originally saved in MXST x64. Both machines using a local Pack and go folder, with the same textures.

Triangle groups seem to slow down the loading process the most.

Please Next Limit team, do you have any ideas on why this is happening?

Tim.

Biggest time increase between the two, is during loading of high poly objects and triangle groups.
