Hi all,

I'm having a strange problem - I find that most of my materials aren't as glossy as I want them. The material preview looks good, but in the final renders they all look flat. Lately I've been using studio HDRI's, which should provide me with some nice reflections, to see the gloss, but this isn't helping much.

Yesterday I did a render with a physical sky, sun enabled, and got the following image:

Notice that in the reflected image on the floor, you get a nice highlight on the bench legs, but not on the actual legs themselves...! Does this make sense? This image is SL 11.5, but since I get a nice highlight on the floor, it surely doesn't have to do with SL...

Thoughts?

For any object, go you have hidden to reflection / refraction checked by accident?

Hi Brian,

I checked in my model and I don't have the reflections/refractions dissabled...

Well, thanks to JDHill I've come to my senses... Turns out that given the angle of the sun, and the viewing angle, there is no path that would result in a highlight on the object itself, with the possible exception of the small fillet on the top frame of the bench. If I go ahead and place a sphere in the scene, I do get a reasonable highlight...
