Hi Pascal (and everyone),

I will have to be a little strict here on this.

If you feel that this scene does not suit you in its stock form and you need to alter it, please refrain from posting these variants here in the forum... or alternatively, avoid using this scene completely.

If there are variants floating around then this effort for uniformity is all in vain including all the time I have spent on it.

(In retrospect, it was probably a mistake to have offered the OBJ ... this has now been removed)

I think you are right to removed the obj file...when i see pascal render. What's the purpose of your setup? Pascal can tweak your scene as he want but posting his result of material without using the exactly same scene is absolutly unusefull. May be he didn't understand the purpose of this thread and your work.

Hyltom, who told you I tweak the scene posted by thomas....
I never said that. I'm using exactly the same scene, change absolutly nothing about the scene, the maps or whatsoever.
I just use the scene to make my materials....but maybe I didn't understand what thomas said:
Quote:
The suggestion is to use the attached scene for material presentations thus creating a uniform materials presentation standard, since materials are a very important aspect in Maxwell.

But if I'm wrong thomas, don't hesitate to tell me.
I will remove the materials I made and will put them somewhere else.

The map applied on the wall and roof are missing.

I followed the instruction on the pdf:
a. Lauch studio
b. open "StandardMatTest.txt"

From this point, I made my materials....
So...for the map, I'm checking right now...but for the moment I don't see there are missing.
But I check

Do we have to re-load the map for the walls or not?

OK, I just finish to check....All the map are in the right place. And this, since the beginning. That's means the silver and the chrome I posted before were render with the right scene including the map...all the map (wall and roof)

Thomas, I understand now the misunderstanding between you and me. When you asked me for the chrome, if I used a background image, I answered "no" because I though you was thinking about an hdri or a personnal background from myself.
Since the beginning I'm using your scene without any modifications.

If yes, so there is some problem...because the object doesn't reflect any map.

hmm, I see.
Yes, it was a misunderstanding then :) (It seemed as if you were manually turning off the background MXI for some reason).

I think someone brought it up once more in the past that the MXI background would not show in the render. So it might be a glitch in Studio or something like that (in which case you did nothing wrong ! and I probably have to figure out why this is happening to you ... )

Yeah thomas, you probably right, I just check and on the studio panel, in "mxi path" there is nothing....
How can I fix this problem?

hmm, that sounds serious ... are there any MXI/HDR settings retained at all ? (the background HDR was placed very carefully; so it is important that Studio retains those values)

If the values (for scaling, offset, intensity) are still good, what you have to do is make sure all 4 channels are pointing to the MXI background texture (spherical panorama supplied in the 7zip file).

I fix the problem and re-do my test

Pascal de chine

Hi Pascal,

It is part of the installation files (the download in the first page).
Once you unzip, it is the file named "SphericalPanorama.mxi"

The real question is though ... why did it set itself to "none" ...

Since i kinda got into this whole material creation thingy now (it's fun) i'm curious to if anyone have any specific requests for materials they would like to have done using free textures from the web. Any requests ? :)

/ Max
