These first tests already give a first idea of how valueable your test-object will be. Awesome concept and great design! Thank you very much Thomas!

Thanks Thomas - will give it a try. I can see where this will be extremely useful.

can anyone please post a 3ds or something similar that I'm able to use it in Cinema?

Or just tell me how to import?

For this scene, you use Studio. There is no reason to open this scene in C4D.

The workflow is something like Maxwell Material Editor - Make materials, even use this scene as a preview scene if you like (rename it to defaultpreview.mxs and put it in your preview folder. (rename your current defaultpreview.mxs file).

Then make your material, when you are done, open the same scene in Studio and render away.

i love the idea Thomas...would be indeed awsome to have also an architectural scale scene ( some interior, some exterior, or maybe both) to set tiles, wood panels, concrete and other architecture textures...

as for the preview ( am using only the material editor): i never tried to switch from the defautpreview sphere, and i renamed your file to defautpreview.mxs, put your .jpg/png in the preview folder as well, but i cannot get the materials to change when i refresh the preview with new materials. Your scene loads ok with its images, but the material is sticking to yellow... what am i doing wrong? How does the material "know" wich item to apply to?

thnx
Nils

Maybe it is case-sensitive... can you rename the material "PREVIEW" to "preview" and see if it works better ?

Thanks
Thomas

It's me again, I'm very trouble sometime... :)

I think there is some problem with the air bubbles of you obj. file. They seems too big and two are coming out of the big sphere. In my file, they are 3.52 mm of diameter. Is it right?

darn bubbles :P ... they are supposed to be different sizes ....

The OBJ is updated (exported with slightly different settings)
Also the 3dm is in there as well now.

can you explain a bit the lining of the lights? what is it for how does it work?

thanx

When the object is very reflective (like mirror) it creates softer transitions.

... otherwise the top liner basically splits the emitter into 4 luminairs

The mapping is not very good but it the best i can do.
The share file of the material will be available in the coming days.
This rendering as been done using rhinoll plugin...the scene will be available after Thomas's approval.
