Bubba, thanks :) hehe, sure that pic must be you. Who else would it be..

Teabag: The best ? nahh  but thanks a lot. I'm glad you like it. It took some hard work to get them to look like that.

Ron: Thank you! :) sharing.. hm, yes maybe i'll do that.

I rendered the Luxology Head materialsetup during the night and these are the results of around 8 hours rendering. Please do look at them at their full resolution or else you will not see all the details in these surfaces.
Enjoy it! :)

How many Layers did you use for the rust materials? :)

They both have 2 layers, basically one for the clean iron and one for the rust itself and then there's ofcourse displacement to add the final details. It could be improved a bit with one or two more layers to boost the surface variations a bit more on the iron.

Here's what they look like in the editor..

Max,
These are some awesome materials!!
Have you thought of adding to Mverta's tutorials on materials
and adding your own thoughts\perspectives?

I know it would be a great resource for me.

Thanks Frosty :) i'm glad you like them. I never really thought about writing tutorials, probably because i don't follow any rules or guidelines when i create materials. It's more of a "shoot from the hip" type of creation. :) but i'll see if i can put together something else, something simple yet useful for you guys, not as comprehensive and well done as Mverta's tutorials are.

Thank you Teabag :) good to hear you like it.

I modified one of the rust materials a bit last night and came up with a different version using some new maps. And please do take a look at the fullres 2000 pixels image instead of the small thumbnail. :)
