i'm looking for the best way to get this kind of material done:

its a tight curved sinusoid. I have tried with displacement (from the mxm gallery availble texture ) but the color i need beeing dark i get no view of the height from far away...

Should i modelize the 3D wave?
Any of you have a flat texture that works from a bit far with a bump?
