Hey Guys.

In studio, when you load a normal map you get the option to flip it on the x, y and z axis. Does anybody know where the similar options are in Maya? At the moment it seems that when using the Maya plug-in to render, the normal maps are not flipping correctly.

This image is of a section of slate rendered from studio. The normal map is flipped on the X and Y axis (I've decreased the roughness value so the effect is more obvious.)

This second image is of the same section of slate, rendered from Maya. The material has been exported from studio, and imported into Maya through the plug-in. The normal map is NOT being flipped.

I'm just wondering if this is a bug, or a limit of the software?

Cheers,
Dr Merman

UPDATE : Well I've checked many scenes, and the normal maps are just not being flipped correctly when rendering from the Maya plugin.

Any official word on this? Is there a hidden option within Maya that I'm missing?

Cheers,
Dr Merman

Hi.

The Maya plug-in doesn't expose options for flipping normal map axes right now, but it's on the list of things to add.
