Juan,

Preview window - settings:
Ok, that's cool. though a little (make default) button right in the editor is how a lot of developers do it. But if it's possible I'm happy.

Missing textures:
There was no error. It just didn't work. With the MXM textures it rendered like there was no maxwell textures at all, the original colour and texture from LW was all I would get. I even reimported it into Studio, and reapplied the textures from the network drive.. no luck there either. Once I moved the folder full of MXM textures to the local drive, and reapplied them... it worked.
The HDRs.. same deal. The HDR illumination just wasn't there... the link was there, it was enabled... but no light was forthcoming. Once I moved the HDRs and relinked them... Voila! The world be full of light.

Oddly, the models/objects didn't have that problem. They were still located on my server.

I hope this can be remedied, I have GIGABYTES of textures and to burrow and move the stuff you need creates a terrible mess locally. ;)

Missing Buttons:
YAY... that would be handy.

I have a few other problems, but they may be 'loser error'. I need to carefully peruse the manual again before posting those issues.

thanks for the info Juan.

Ian

Yup, certainly, and thinking of network rendering, it would mean an overhead easily in the hundreds of gigabytes, professionally impractical, think about material maintenance.

Strange... I do use HDR textures on a mapped drive, both as environment and on objetcs. No problem so far. I know there are some issues with mapped drives (sometimes, photoshop won't save a picture there), but I've encountered none with Maxwell.

I don't know... I have been using my network for a few months with Photoshop, Lightwave, Shade, Vue, Poser, Hexagon, etc. etc. No errors at all.

This for sure is the problem tho... it took me hours to narrow it down, but once I started saving textures locally and moved the required ones to my local drive everything works.

Next Limit? Could it be a LW plugin thing? I'm rendering from LW.
I do have the directory set correctly in LW... Is there a setting somewhere in studio that needs to be set to indicate the 'local drive' ?

It's my understanding that once windows maps a drive, and it's connected and functioning properly that it is no different to windows then a local drive.

hmmm... I'm rendering from studio. I'll try to render from plugin when current render is over (not too soon, I'm afraid).
