What settings do you use for gamma ?

Gamma: 2.4
Burn: 0.2 but i'm thinking about decreasing it to 0.1 or 0.05...need some more testing. Of course I don't say that the best setting and everybody must do it...it's my personal taste. Maybe I'm wrong, so it's why i would like to get some comments abouti it.

Hyltom,

Can you open the OBJ in Rhino ? (I put the link up in the first post)
It opens ok here, but let me know if you have problems with the file.

hmm, well it might give you a pleasing result in some scenes, but I can tell you right away that these values do not produce true color linearity.

For example at burn 0.5 (this is as far as my test goes) the correct gamma would be about 2.05 (other gamma values have more deviation). Also, the burn value tents to distort the Vin/Vout curves ... the further down you go the more convex are the curves and there is no gamma that gives correct results.

I have no problem sending you the 3dm ... but I do not understand the issue you are having. For example, here I can open the OBJ in Rhino (in Rhino ... *not* Studio) and save it as 3DM (it is all nurbs) ... then we can adjust UVs or use the McNeel RCM to do the texturing and Rhinoll to apply materials ... all these with the OBJ.

EDIT: Oh I see what you mean .... sorry for the confusion
No I do not have any mappings in Rhino, everything was exported and worked on studio for this scene... so the 3dm file will not be any more help than the OBJ ... again sorry about that

Hi all,

Here is a test using dispersive dielectric material.
This test was rendered by [yoda]. Thank you [yoda] :)

My problem is simple, I need to spend around 30mn to do that. But I'm too busy to do it. I will prefer an already working scene...if not i need to wait this weekend to redo the mapping and the materials. If the scene is ready, i can used it right now without losing anytime on my job.

Yes, I kinda figured this ... like 30sec after posting the response.
(See edit above) Sorry for the misunderstanding.

That's a great idea Thomas, right now I'm testing some materials and your scene works like a charm! :D

It looks great and I'd like to use it to render some tests but I cannot open anything with Cinema.

The object-file I import is empty. There are no nurbs..... can anyone provide another format or tell me what I do wrong?
I don't want to use the studio, because I'm used to Cinema+PlugIn atm and I'd like to keep using it that way.

It's me again, I'm very trouble sometime... :)

I think there is some problem with the air bubbles of you obj. file. They seems too big and two are coming out of the big sphere. In my file, they are 3.52 mm of diameter. Is it right?

Or just tell me how to import?
