Does anybody have any recommendations for a Linux distribution? What about performance and stability? Unfortnately, the Benchwell website does not help at all as there is almost no Linux system registered. Does it mean Linux performance is so poor that most people don't bother?

Until a new release I won't test because I can't still use linux version for production.

Ayway I think Debian or Debian based distro - Ubuntu - can work really well.

So I installed ubuntu (7.10 server, amd64, only the base system so far) and also managed to install maxwell including the license.

I started

startmxclng -server -silent

and this server shows up on my mac as 'ubuntu'. When I assign a job located on a network storage to it, I get:

Reading MXS://server/public/benchwell/sculpture.mxs
MXS file does not exists
Render failed

i got it rendering (I copy the job directly onto the linux machine using ssh) and performance is ok when compared to benchwell. but i can't assign a job via the network interface of maxwell. any thoughts on that.....?
