I have two machines installed on a nework with a simple crossover cable. I can see the two machines ready to render, I add a job and starts processing, I let it run once is complete, the main machine where the manager is running with mxcl reaches 13.00 sl and the other one only reaches .60. Is there is something wrong or this is correct, is an image 12x24 at 300 dpi. Does size matters?

thanks

Does MXCL crash on the machine that just reaches SL0.6?

Do you mean SL 0.60?

Does it mean 1417 x 2835 pixels?

Please provide more information about your configuration. Operating systems, RAM, output paths etc.

hi

yes it reached only sl.of .60

for the image size I believe it was

width 7200 x 3534

the two were merged fine and with green success on both. just don't get the sl of .60 on the other machine.

thanks

Let me guess, the one with 1 Gb RAM is the one you're having problems with...
I don't think it's possible to render a 7000 px image with only 1 GB RAM.
Need more RAM in your second machine if you want to use it as a render node!

yeah the one with the gig is doing the sl0.60.

Should I add more more memory? I am running xp max is 2 g ram memory

Should I switch to mac osx and do the coop there? I guess I don't have memory limitations there.

thanks

Definitely it's about memory. That resolution would allocate more than 700 MB of MXI and if you have multilights it'd need much more. Increasing the sytsem memory will fix the problem. What about virtual memory settings? Also you can consider XP64 for addressing more memory.

Yeah, More ram, 64 bit system, and start looking at Interpolation.

I rendered a scene with the output resolution set to 12000x6000 over the weekend (fridag afternoon --> monday morning) No one of my nodes had reached a higher SL than 1.0.

Linux64, Dual Quad Core, 4GB ram, ML=Off

I'm re-rendering with resolution 6000x3000 now (they've reached SL3.0 in 30 min) , and I will use Genuine Fractals to interpolate my image up to 12000x6000 pixles.

Woah!
I can render 10,000 px scenes, but it usually takes most of my RAM to do it. (16 GB)
