Here's part of the wireframe:

It's just a wall surface, cut up into small portions. Vertices are welded. Aaaahhh!!!!

I don't think it's the same thing as the sphere preview since the wall has less geometry to work with from the start. Try increasing precision.

Look at this. It's ripping holes where the grout lines are in some places.

I will try increasing precision.

Is there any instanced modifier at the stack?

Unchecking "use instancing" solves anything?

Precision at 600:

I don't think that subdivision is the problem. I will make a render for you, KurtS, next.

It's as if there is something clipping the diplacement...

I am going to try setting offset to 0.0 and see if that helps.

Ok, I have found the problem...
If you have a sharp corner (bricks for instance), you cannot set your offset to 1.0. The grout lines were being displaced inwards and at the corners, there was some clipping/intersecting going on which Maxwell does not seem to like. Even with the corners chamfered and smoothed, this still happens. So to fix my walls I need to offset them by 1cm inwards while setting my displacement offset to 0.0 so the white parts of the displacement map represent the outermost dimension of the wall's face.
Whew! That only took me all day to figure out... Don't tell the boss man.

Thank you guys for the helpful suggestions, much appreciated! :D

Here is a close crop of the final:

The bricks were made with the Acme Brick texture maker.
