Last question...for today.

It looks like there is no control of the UV mapping from within SW. Anytime that I try to use SW's Appearance to get to the Mapping tab, it removes the material that was assigned by the plugin. The plugin has texture rotation and sizing, but not mapping type (e.g. cubic, cylindrical, spherical, etc.) I assume then that if it is necessary to tweak the mappings, that we will need to go to Studio to do that?

Yes, you still need to use Studio for that. I have been saying forever that I will get support for the SW2008+ texture mappings sorted out, but as of yet I still have not been able to get something that works consistently.

Hi, I'm using SolidWorks 2007 and Maxwell 2.0 with the latest platform,. this is kind of a new environment for me. Is this still the case, that I have to use Studio to control the texture projections?

Regards,

- Björn

Pretty much, yes. SW 2007 doesn't have any projection capability; you have a scale (not x/y, just scale) and a rotation, and in both cases, you do not decide the origin of the transformation.

Ok, thanks for information. Do you know if this all is possible if we upgrade to SW 2010?

Not currently; SW 2010 does have some rudimentary projection capability, but I have not (as I was discussing in this thread) yet found a way of resolving how it works with how the plugin is currently implemented. Just my opinion, but the capability they added is not very good, to the point where I would still prefer to texture in Studio (or Rhino, since you have that).
