Awesome tests :) I'm also happy to see you nailed the fog with it.

Something that I meant to mention in my previous post but forgot:

Whenever I try to output a shadow channel in a scene with any SSS in it, Maxwell crashes. Can anyone confirm/deny? Working straight out of Studio with OSX.

So, that was SSS... viewtopic.php?f=113&t=35770
By the way, this crash is mac-specific as far as I can see.

Yes, we will check. At the moment I can confirm it's not crashing on Win.

not quite "nailed" yet as there arn't those nice volumetric shadows peeling off.. but maybe we will get a setting that works (its gonna be tough as it will be scene scale specific I guess)

Participating media (fog) is not something very practical to achieve with material SSS

I admit, getting that volumetric fog working via SSS there was just a workaround trick, still there are materials/situations out there, where one would expect to use SSS, like muddy water, for example. No?
Still, I'm on my way to to really 'dig into' the new SSS (2.5 is a HUGE update, I keep finding new stuff), so you never know, what you'll find in the end :D

Although i've been away from Maxwell for a while, i just had to play with the new version! I'm very happy that the SSS model settled down now.
This is a little test i did over night: (13 hours, SL 20.24, Core i7, Raw output)

Hopefully we'll get back the realflow splash preview image for al the SSS presets. I mean the one we had with 1.7 :)

Will we Tom?

Actually, I have that palette myself but, I thought it would be better not revealing it for inviting you to experience yourself.
