Login Error. Can't login in MXM Gallery. Check user account info in the preferences dialog

I get the above error every time I try to log on via the Maxwell Material editor, I've checked my password and I can log in via the Materials website, any clues as to why I can't get this to work?

Well, saying "I've checked my password" could mean a couple of different things. Both Studio and MXED store their own user-preferences, and you actually need to make sure that you've set them in MXED preferences if you wish to be able to log in from MXED. I believe that they used to share this information between them (probably somewhere in the registry on Windows), but whatever the case, they currently do not, so I'd recommend checking that.

Of course, if you meant that you had already done this, then it won't be much help.

You need to switch from the 'Browser' tab (at the very top of the window) to the 'Editor' one -- then you'll find the File > Preferences menu.

Can't see anything here either

Ok found it under File, now working, thanks for your help. Surely it would be more logical to have the log in preference under the WEB tab.

Thanks again JD

Maybe so -- it could also be corrected not to say Login successfully! in the status bar when you do log in. I always feel like it's wishing me luck or something. :)

Same problem - I cannot log in. Username and password have not been changed and they worked earlier.
What can be the cause??

I am having same issue that I cannot login in to the MXM Gallery. I have placed my username and password in the Studio Preferences as well as the Material Editors Preferences. But it continues to give me the same error message:

"Login Error: Can't login into the MXM Gallery. Do you want to fill your user info now?"

But the information has already been filled in numerous times.

I can login to the MXM gallery directly by going to the Website and filing in my username and password.

Thank-you

Greg

Are you sure no firewalls are blocking the connection? Try with all firewalls off first. After entering your user/pass close studio and MXED and restart either MXED or Studio to check (with firewalls off).

Thank-you for your response.

So yes I disabled my AVG Firewall and was finally able to connect to the MXM Gallery. I then changed the AVG Firewall setting for the application from "allow for safe" connections to "Allow for all" connections which now seems to allow the connection to be made with my AVG Firewall re-enabled.

A couple of smaller issues:

When I try to search the MXM gallery on the web it still prompts me with a Login error and asks me to fill in the login info, to which I respond OK and then it takes me to the preferences pane where my user info has already been filled in, and I hit OK, which returns me to the Material editor where it says login Successful and then I click search again and then it makes the connection. No big deal but it seems like unnecessary steps.

Also when I enter the MXM gallery from Rhino as opposed to opening the Material Editor directly I am presented only with the web tab and not the local tab. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

Thank-you

Greg

I think this is how it's ment to work because in the Rhino plugin you have a much more extensive "Database Manager" to handle material libraries which can also contain libraries of subcomponents (BSDFs, coatings etc), not just MXM files:
