Maxwell Render

For some reason, Maxwell 2.5.1.0 with Maya, will not render. Maya's console shows the following:

// Rendering with Maxwell Render... //
// Rendering Completed. See Console for more information. //

This message happens almost instantaneously. Although none of the 300 frames were rendered. It was working minutes ago, then I started having this issue.

I have a Mac using OS X 10.6.8, 2x2.26 GHz Quad-Core with 12Mb ram.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Go to Library/Logs/Maya inside your home directory and there should be a file called mayaRender.log. Delete this file, try rendering again, then see what was printed in it. Maybe there's some useful info there.

You can also try running Maxwell manually once. Maybe it somehow lost its association to MXS files, so the plug-in doesn't know how to find it anymore. Running it once from the Applications directory makes it re-associate itself, if that was the problem.

I deleted the log, then did another batch render and the new log said: "Mon Sep 5 17:36:40 EDT 2011
More than one file name is not allowed: /Users/Morgus/Desktop/Jim/Creative/Kids Club/Paul/Maya/scenes/panel 3_4__30724.mb ..."

I'm not sure why it's saying there is more than one file with the same name, since in the folder there are no duplicates. I
also tried opening and running the Maxwell application. Still did not work.

Any other ideas?

Also...I CAN render on a per frame basis in Maya. That way works fine. I just can't batch render.

Can you batch render with Maya Software? Also, try removing the Maya preferences, maybe something got saved wrong in there (stop Maya, rename the directory Library/Preferences/Autodesk/maya/<version> to something else and start it again).

Thanks (again)! I noticed an older file had a file name in Render Settings / File Output area. Maya is supposed to use the scene name if you don't enter anything into this field. But for some reason...when I specified a name, it started working again. Quite an odd issue.

Hm, maybe that field wasn't really empty (it had some spaces in it or some other non-printable characters)?
