Actually, "fixes and improvements" are sometimes as important as the new features.
Cause sometimes without them, a pretty simple task can turn into a nightmare.
So I'm glad they're not left behind :)

So I guess there is no need for extra plugins or anything in the host apps like maxwell hair?.

Cheers

That's right, the grass extension is not dependent on any hair system in the host app.

Some of my test renders with the new grass system. All three are rendered using HDRI and use over 12.3 million blades in each image.

Awesome, the second and last are my favorites.
How about the memory usage, is like instances?

Cheers

Football image was 16gb of ram out of 24gb. This was a two hour render to SL16 on a 4ghz i7 at 2k resolution. I've tested 56 million blades which ran at 24gb ram + VM page file for a 1k resolution.

OMG, This is awesome!

But it looks like it's pretty heavy on memory usage, or?

Now these are absolutely beautiful, Herve.
Did you use displacement for the ground?

And BTW, How come everyone is already testing 2.7???
