MXM Browser

The MXM Browser provides access to Maxwell MXM files located in the file system.

MXM Browser Interface
General Info

The MXM Browser may be shown as a standalone window (as pictured here), or as a Rhino 'dockbar', similar to Rhino's own Layers and Object Properties windows.  See Plugin Options > Dockable MXM Browser. Most of the functions of the MXM Browser are self-explanatory. The MXM list simply shows the MXM contents of whichever folder it is currently set to view.

The toolbar contains functions for browsing the file-system in order to locate folders which contain MXM files. When a folder is selected, it will be added to the MXM folders list, accessible from the drop-down list. The plugin stores the last-viewed folder, so it is advisable not to leave the plugin with the browser pointed at a very large directory, or a network folder, as this folder will be enumerated the next time the plugin is loaded, and may cause an extended load-time.

MXM list items in the browser are given tooltips which provide a small summary of the contents of the MXM file. MXM files may be imported and assigned to objects in one process by dragging them into a node in the Material Browser. One or more MXM files may also be imported into the Scene by selecting them in the list and choosing the 'Import MXM(s)' option from the right-click context-menu. An MXM may also be opened for editing in Maxwell MXED through the context-menu.
