  02/07/07 > RHINO 4 PLUGIN UPDATES

New Features & Capabilities:

- Maxwell Image Based Environments (MXI/HDR) may now be shown in the viewport.
- Inverted Textures and MXI Textures may now be shown in the viewport.
- Maxwell ‘Hidden-to-X‘ object flags are now available in Object Properties > Maxwell.
- Maxwell 1.5 features such as ZClip, Shift-Lens, etc., are now available in the plugin.
- All Rhino texture-mapping channels may now be exported.
- Textures may be tiled independent of object-size using the Real Scale feature.
- New xml-based data-persistence model results in a much-reduced file size, and provides quicker Scene saving/loading.
- Viewport materials provide a much more accurate representation of their Maxwell Material.
- Maxwell Scene data may be completely removed from a .3dm using the ‘Maxwell_SaveWithoutMaxwellDat’a and ‘Maxwell_SaveAsWithoutMaxwellData’. Unlike using the Rhino ‘-SaveAs > PlugInData=No’ method of removing all plugin data from an .3dm, these commands remove only the Maxwell data
- Animation functionality is now encapsulated in 3 simple commands: ‘Maxwell_BeginAnimation’, ‘Maxwell_EndAnimation’, and ‘Maxwell_CancelAnimation’.
- A custom tool is provided for setting Camera Focal Distance, and ZClip planes. The tool uses mouse-interaction in the viewport to pick distances, and provides visual feedback/readout of the current value. This tool may be used with Osnap enabled.
- Enhanced Maxwell Menu & toolbars.
- New Log Viewer window (‘Maxwell_ShowLogViewer’) provides real-time readout of plugin-operation. The reported data may be valuable in troubleshooting Scene & plugin issues.
- The new ‘Maxwell_PathStatusReport’ command may be used to identify any files referenced in the Scene, which point to invalid file-locations.

New Material Manager:

- Provides a single access-point for all Material-related operations.
- New Material Editor mimics Maxwell MXED 1.5 in form & function
- Custom controls provide an enhanced workflow
- New Texture Editor provides real-time viewport feedback
- New Scene Materials browser provides flexible icon views, multiple-Material-selection, and many new Material/object operations (Select Assigned’, ‘Remove Unused’, etc.)
- New MXM Browser provides enhanced Explorer-style MXM folder browsing.
- Using the ‘Gather All Files’ function, all referenced files may be copied to the current .3dm location. During this process all paths will be rewritten in-place, relative to the new location.
- Maxwell Materials may now be assigned by drag-and-drop onto the Rhino Layers window.

Full-access to the Maxwell Scene for RhinoScript:

- All Scene parameters are scriptable.
- Changes happen in real-time.
- Scripting interface mirrors the Scene Manager layout.
