  01/04/08 > SOLIDWORKS PLUGIN UPDATES V.1.6.6

Version 1.6.6 Release Notes:

  • Overall fine-tuning of user-interface design and behavior.
  • New methods of selecting entities based on their Maxwell Material assignment in the Object Properties window:
  • These new methods replace the plugin-specific selection filters used in the previous version of the plugin. These consist of a toolbar-button which selects the current entity’s parent, and a hyperlink in the ‘Info’ item of the selected entity. This hyperlink both indicates the Maxwell Material-source entity of the selected entity, and causes it to become selected when clicked.

  • Maxwell Texture Editor moved into a slide-out in the Maxwell Material Editor window, as seen in the Maxwell for Rhino 4 plugin.
  • New Camera ‘LCD Back-Panel’ window provides convenient access to the most common Maxwell Camera properties.
  • New Camera 'Heads-Up Display' viewport overlay rectangle (click image to enlarge):

This overlay visually shows the Maxwell Camera’s film sensor, in relation to its associated viewport. This includes the ability to show any film size and lens-shift offset. Additionally, when a Camera uses the ‘Manual’ resolution mode (vs. the automatic ‘Viewport’ mode) the actual image-output dimensions are not tied in any way to the physical pixel-size or aspect ratio of the viewport.

  • New Auto-Exposure mode for Maxwell Cameras. When enabled, given a certain film ISO, this mode allows for making adjustments to the Camera’s fStop without affecting the exposure. As the Camera’s fStop is adjusted, the Shutter value will be figured to maintain a consistent exposure.
  • New interactive Sun indicator (click image to enlarge):

This real-time interactive indicator shows the current position and direction of the Sun in relationship to the rest of the Scene. It shows changes made either using the SunView globe, or direct parameter-changes in date, time, and Scene location, or the Scene Rotation parameter.

  • New ‘Export Absolute’ option exports meshes with transformation already applied to vertex locations.
  • New ‘Export SW Multi-Materials’ option. The initial version of the plugin only considered SolidWorks objects at the Body and Component level when exporting auto-generated Materials. This option causes any SolidWorks materials applied to Face and Feature entities to be exported as well.
  • New ‘Emitter Material Threshold’ option. The initial version of the plugin considered any native SolidWorks material with an Emissivity value greater than 0.20 as an Emitter when auto-generating Materials during export. This option allows setting this threshold to whichever value may be desired.
  • Added ‘MXS Auto-Naming’ and ‘Image Auto-Naming’ user-preferences. When enabled, MXS and image output will not overwrite any previous output - instead the filename will be renamed using incrementing numbers.
